Who We Are
In 2021 our son was born with hypoplastic right heart syndrome with ventricular defect and tricuspid atresia. In simpler terms he has CHD.
Now that we are nearing the end of 2024, our son is approaching his next heart catheterization procedure for surgeons to prepare for his direly needed upcoming open-heart surgery that is to follow. Basically, now that his little body is growing, his heart is having trouble trying to keep up. So this surgery is not an option. The surgery will result in a lengthy hospital stay 3 hours from home.
We often get asked so many questions about why we started our business. Well, with extended hospital stays, sometimes unforeseen, and the inability to work away from home with our six other children, this all has taken a financial toll on our family.
Creating soaps became a beautiful expressive outlet for our family. We were able to help pay bills while getting our minds off of our daily struggles. Our favorites have been our layered bars. The endless possibilities give so much opportunity to use our imaginations, exploring colors, designs and scents.
One thing we wish everyone understood about CHD is that my son doesn't mirror every other child with CHD, just as they don't him. His fight is his, as theirs is his or hers. Just like these bars, our baby boy’s heart is unique. It was crafted differently and is beautiful. CHD is not racist, it does not hold prejudice, it comes in many different unique diagnoses.
But, no matter the outcome, these babies stories are full of beauty, STRENGTH, and love. Each soap bar is unique and every time we cut into our soap bars we are able to see the slightest distinctiveness from the last; a slight variance of beauty. We are always reminded of how perfectly unique our son is. Our son’s beauty, determination and strength, wouldn't have reached so many people if his heart fell into the typical heart "mold".
We want our soaps to stand out just like him. What started with natural homemade soap expanded to natural sugar scrubs, lip balms, soy candles, apparel, gifts and much more. We don't want handouts, we want to share our story and continue to educate those who don't know what CHD is.
